Logistic Information Requirements
Identification and specification of information requirements is driven by the needs of the people,
organizations and / or systems within the receiving process.
Once these requirements have been determined, the possible sources of the information -
in terms of the people, organizations and systems that can, or already do, generate it -
can then be identified. These information exchange requirements (between processes) can be documented in:
- Textual scoping statements - which define what is in and out of scope.
- Information object diagrams - which identify the information objects or entities required.
- Tables - which may for example relate each information object to the processes that use and produce it.
- Any combination of the above.
LInC has many years of experience in defining information exchange requirements between
logistic processes throughout the life cycle. In particular we can:
- Elicit
- Identify
- Analyse
- Tailor and
- Document
...your information exchange requirements for your processes. When done correctly, and in sufficient detail,
this provides the foundation for answering the subsequent questions:
- What is the best way for the information exchange to take place - telephone conversation, email message,
system-system data exchange, establishment of a shared data repository ?
- If a formal system-system data exchange or sharing mechanism is necessary,
how should those
system specifications be defined ?
