Logistic Information System Specification
If it has been determined that the process information requirements are to be exchanged electronically
between the systems generating and using the information, then that mechanism has to be formally specified.
Our approach to this is usually to follow the steps outlined below:
- Conduct a Feasibility study - do the two systems "understand" the meaning of the information that
is within the scope of the exchange ?
- User requirement elicitation, analysis and specification, resulting in a detailed User
Requirement Document (URD), which may include requirements for the use of specific
logistic standards
- System requirement elicitation, analysis and specification, resulting in a detailed System
Requirement Document (SRD). This will include system input and output requirements, and will specify
file structures and formats. Where ther is no existing common file format that the two systems
can interpret, and where no standard data exchange specification (DEX) exists, a requirement
to undertake bespoke information modelling
will result in order that the interface specification can be implemented.
In terms of analysing information exchange requirements against existing standards, and / or undertaking
information modelling based on detailed requirements, LInC has the breadth and depth of knowledge to address
your logistic system interface specification needs.
